Biometric data and BIPA
Aamey's AR try-on feature processes face geometry data. This qualifies as biometric data under various laws, including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). Here is exactly how we handle it.
How biometric data is processed
- Face geometry is computed on-device using your device's camera and processing hardware.
- The raw camera feed is never uploaded to Aamey servers.
- If you save a look, a mathematical face geometry model (not a photo) is stored in encrypted form on Aamey servers.
- This data is used solely for AR try-on and is never used for advertising, profiling, or sold to third parties.
- Biometric data is never sent to the AI advisor or to Anthropic.
BIPA compliance
Because BIPA imposes strict requirements on biometric data collection and storage, Aamey has chosen to geo-block the AR try-on save feature for users located in Illinois, Texas, and Washington state. Users in those states can still use AR try-on in session-only mode (no data saved).
Deletion
You can delete your stored biometric data at any time from Profile → Privacy & Consent. Deletion is completed within 24 hours. See deleting your face data.
